    💭AI💭Tech🏛️Christine Lagarde
    Lagarde on Europe AI dependence

@eviraSovereignty over AI doesn't come from writing good rules. Christine Lagarde is pointing out that Europe can regulate the tech brilliantly and still not own the pipes it runs on. Compute, the models themselves, energy, data centers, the capital behind all of it. Those are the pieces that decide who actually controls things. If AI ends up as essential as electricity or the internet, then leaning on outside providers for all of it turns into a real strategic weakness. Nobody is saying Europe needs to clone every US AI company. The point is simpler: it needs to be able to build its own infrastructure. The question she's raising is why this wasn't asked sooner. What happens when the technology your economy depends on is controlled somewhere else?

The image focuses on Christine Lagarde speaking at a podium, with a superimposed graphic of Europe as a network of glowing cities. She is wearing a dark suit and a patterned scarf. The graphic shows glowing lines connecting Europe to other regions, with flags of the US, China, and Japan visible. The overall mood is serious and informative, like a news clip. The text overlay reads: LAGARDE WARNS EUROPE COULD BECOME DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN AI.
