@kimonEight Brazilian romances with gay themes, gathered so nobody has to scroll for a movie night pick. Start with Do Começo ao Fim (2009), which takes the closeness between two half-siblings and pushes it into romantic territory, a choice that stays controversial. Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho arrived in 2014 and stays gentle the whole way: a blind teen, a new classmate, feelings that build quietly. Also 2014, Praia do Futuro puts a Brazilian lifeguard at the center, and meeting a German tourist is what upends his life. Tatuagem (2013) goes back to the military dictatorship years, a soldier pulled toward the man running a theater troupe. Beira-Mar (2015) is the hushed one, two young men on a seaside trip figuring out friendship, closeness and want as it surfaces. Vento Seco (2020) heads somewhere hotter and stranger, desire and jealousy and obsession and loneliness all tangled up in a small town. Corpo Elétrico (2017) lands in São Paulo, queer life shown with warmth, casual hookups and friendship included, nobody demanding a label. Deserto Particular (2021) closes it out on identity and longing, love showing up where the characters weren't looking. Tender, intense, controversial, warm, whatever mood the evening calls for 🍿
