    Disclosure Day box office projection

Mixed word of mouth may hold Steven Spielberg back a bit, but Disclosure Day is still poised to crush the industry's $30M-$35M projections this weekend at the U.S. box office. Emily Blunt grossed a strong $19M on Friday opening day, including $6.5M Thursday previews. For comparison: Gravity opened with $17.5M, Interstellar with $19M, Creed III with $22.1M, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes with $22.1M, Gladiator II with $22.4M, Bad Boys: Ride or Die with $23.6M, and No Time to Die with $23.3M. The film is eyeing a $45M-$50M three-day opening in the U.S., which would beat Ready Player One's $41.8M debut as Spielberg's second biggest opening outside the Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones franchises, only behind War of the Worlds' $64.9M debut back in 2005.
