GLM 5.2 vs Claude Opus 4.8 LMArena

A new leader has emerged on the LMArena leaderboard: GLM 5.2 is outperforming Claude Opus 4.8 by a significant margin. The model is currently the strongest open-source option available. I tested it yesterday for UI design work and can confirm that its performance is comparable to Claude Opus 4.8 in that domain. If the United States continues to enforce strict AI regulations, it may only be a matter of time before China fully dominates the AI landscape.
