Italy's World Cup performance over the last 60 years has been a rollercoaster. Since 1966, they've experienced group stage exits in 1966, 1974, and 2010, but also reached the final four times,finishing as runners-up in 1970 and 1994, third in 1990, and fourth in 1978. Their two tournament victories came in 1982 and 2006. Other results include a Round of 16 finish in 1986 and 2002, and a quarterfinal appearance in 1998.
