Ronald Araújo is swapping Barcelona for Liverpool in a deal that blindsided the football world. The Uruguayan center-back, 27, joins on a season-long loan with a purchase clause included. He departs the Camp Nou after seven campaigns, eight pieces of silverware, and a stint as club captain. Andoni Iraola now gets a defensive anchor expected to line up next to Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the backline.
