Marvel trailer deception meme

I don't trust a single frame of a Marvel trailer anymore. They've been doctoring shots, scrubbing characters, swapping scenes, and cooking up entirely fake footage just to keep spoilers under wraps. The meme floating around of Cap struggling against Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet, with the Stones visibly different between the trailer and the actual movie, is the perfect snapshot of the whole con. In Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the trailer sold us Hulk storming into the Wakanda battle, but Banner never once turned into Hulk there. Avengers: Endgame (2019) took it further, feeding us bogus dialogue, manipulated shots, and sequences that never made the final cut to hide the real story. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) had the VFX team digitally restore Thor's missing eye in some trailer clips so you wouldn't know when he loses it. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) literally erased Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from frames, leaving Lizard getting clocked by an 'invisible' attacker. Iron Man 3 (2013) trailers built up the Mandarin as the terrifying big bad, concealing that he was just an actor playing a part. And Captain America: Civil War (2016) heavily reworked Spider-Man's shield-catching entrance for the marketing to keep his appearance hidden. Every time a new trailer drops, I'm just playing detective, trying to spot what's real and what's a misdirect.
