Ukraine Black Sea cargo ceasefire offer

Ukraine is pushing for a truce in the Black Sea, but it would only shield merchant ships. The idea, relayed to Russia via Turkey, asks both sides to stop firing on cargo vessels. Moscow has yet to reply. Turkey got involved partly because some of the commercial boats caught up in the fight are Turkish. Kyiv says more than 218 ships have been struck since July. Around Odesa, Russian attacks have mostly choked off Ukraine's sea exports, an important source of income. Ukraine is still hitting Russian warships and simply wants the cargo route left out of the war. #Ukraine
