Nepal earthquake flood scenario

This graphic maps a hypothetical disaster scenario in Nepal near the China border. A magnitude 4.4 quake triggers an ice and rock avalanche that dams the Lhende River. The blockage causes sudden surges and devastating floods in the Bhote Koshi River. When the natural dam collapses, it releases water, ice, and sediment. This release leads to massive flooding downstream. No heavy rainfall was recorded before the event. The exact causes and sequence remain under investigation. The affected area includes CARRETERA NACIONAL G216
