The end result of an August 31, 2026, afternoon in Times Square is two people stabbed, one of them dead, and the attacker herself killed by police gunfire. Around 4:24 p.m., Pamela Cisneros, 49, from Queens, went after two strangers with a pair of knives. She first put a 68-year-old man in the hospital with an abdominal wound near the subway station, then stabbed a 32-year-old woman the same way. That woman died after being taken to Bellevue Hospital, while the man is still there but stable. Cisneros then headed toward a precinct without letting go of the knives. Commissioner Jessica Tisch said officers spent about four minutes trying to talk her into dropping them, and they did demand that repeatedly. Tasers were deployed but didn't stop her. When she moved toward them still armed, two officers opened fire. Cisneros was hit, taken to Bellevue, and pronounced dead.
