Grayson Waller opened up about his time in WWE and how he was constantly told to be more serious, a directive that shaped his entire approach to the job. He explained that while working with the New Day was supposed to be an incredible opportunity to team up with one of the greatest tag teams of all time, the reality felt completely different from what management expected. The instructions were clear: We want you to be serious. We need you to be serious. But instead of delivering that intensity, the storyline involved wearing silly hats and mucking around with jokes, which made it impossible for him to show the serious side they were looking for. Waller made sure to express genuine love and respect for the New Day, stating he can't explain how much those guys did for him and never wants people thinking he is being derogatory toward them. Despite having such high regard for them as partners, he admitted he never got a chance to show them who he actually is or prove what he could bring to the table. There was no malice on either side because no one is in the wrong here; he didn't do the wrong thing and they didn't do the wrong thing either. It simply came down to a mismatch where they didn't see what they want and he didn't give them what they want.
