Will Ospreay Kenny Omega AEW All In London

The creative process for the Will Ospreay versus Kenny Omega showdown at AEW All In in London took a wild turn that ended up being better than the original blueprint. Going into the event, Ospreay didn't have a specific track mapped out; he just had feelings he needed to convey through the narrative of the match. It was only after sitting down with Kenny and starting to talk about stuff that things started clicking, creating an iterative cycle of idea, flow, idea, flow. Then came the stress test hours before they were set to go on when they found out other performers had executed moves similar to what they intended for their own bout. That discovery put them under even more pressure to try and change things around and fit it all within their story without stepping on anyone's toes. Ospreay insists it's no one's fault and that things happen, but admits it was frustrating while also noting that the Plan B they cooked up was way, way, way better. He was dead happy with how it turned out because the alternative plan developed by the two of them was superior to the initial concept. When asked if the final version was locked in right before the bell, Ospreay clarified it was maybe two or three matches prior. They still had time on their hands, yet the scale of the show created significant self-imposed pressure. The main issue was communication; stadium venues make talking between wrestlers difficult, leading to potential overlaps in performance naturally. They had faith that nothing else would happen that would step on their toes, and thankfully no one did. The result was a unique outcome that Ospreay believes could not have been achieved with any other partners. There were so many other alternative options for that main event slot than what actually happened, but Ospreay knew if this was his moment, he didn't want to read anybody else's script. He wanted it to be himself and Kenny, defining the main event personally rather than following another wrestler's predetermined path.
