    VCU fetus parasite debate

A Black student at Virginia Commonwealth University called the fetus a parasite, technically speaking, and made clear it bothers her that the fetus gets more concern than the mother. "You guys care more about this fucking parasite." That's the quote. The pushback is straightforward: science doesn't classify it that way. A parasite has to be a different species and has to actively harm the host it lives off. A human embryo is the same species as the woman carrying it. The uterus isn't some foreign organ the child seizes either. Its sole biological purpose is to carry the child. So what's being described is normal physiology, not parasitism. Another day, another example of human downfall.
