Lionel Messi eighth Ballon d'Or Thierry du Châtelet

The official verdict from France Football lands hard: Lionel Messi taking home his EIGHTH BALLON D'OR was THE GREATEST MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE GALA. The scene inside the THÉÂTRE DU CHÂTELET shifted when Didier Drogba walked him to center stage and called for EVERYONE at the venue to stand up to applaud the greatest footballer of all time. That image is already history, a snapshot of an event described as unique and unrepeatable in Ballon d'Or lore. A gala. A legend. An unrepeatable moment. We will probably never see anything like this again.
