Mourinho on Jorge Costa Porto captain

Jorge Costa was Mourinho's captain at Porto, and the story he tells about him is the whole reason the word leader gets thrown around so loosely. Down 2-0 to Belenenses at halftime, Mourinho is storming toward the locker room and everyone can see how furious he is. Costa stops him at the door. "Wait outside for two minutes, please." Goes in alone, shuts it behind him, handles the team himself. Then the door opens again: "Coach, go into the team." Everything Mourinho would have said, Costa had already said it. They won 3-2. A centre-back who had never put a ball in the net in his career scored twice that day. Captain and leader are very different things. You cannot buy leaders. You cannot manufacture leaders. And when you have them, your team is one step ahead. That is a guy who does not need the armband explained to him.
