    ⭐Apollo Crews⭐Vince McMahon💭Pro Wrestling

    Apollo Crews Uhaa Nation entrance

Apollo Crews explains that the decision to force a Nigerian accent on his character came down to a last-minute order right before stepping out. He grew up in Kenya for a significant portion of his life, yet he didn't speak the language or deeply study the culture back then. His father was traditional, but learning Nigerian customs wasn't something the family actively pursued together. When Crews first pitched the concept, he wanted to explore the heritage without mimicking a specific vocal delivery. Vince McMahon immediately questioned whether the character needed an accent, which was not part of the original plan. Crews felt strongly against it because the logic just didn't land with him. As a kid, he watched Nigerian-American friends imitate their parents' voices, and his own siblings would do the same for their dad, but doing it on TV in front of millions never crossed his mind. He went to speak with Vince and pleaded his case against using the accent on television. Eventually, he was talked into it and decided to commit fully if he had to do it at all. He incorporated mannerisms from his father to help immerse himself in the role. The character got mixed reactions from fans, some loved it while others hated it, but the discussion was undeniable. Overnight, he became this distinct character with an accent and did a complete 360 on the persona. For the first promo, he intended to use his normal voice, but he was told ten minutes before the show started that the entire segment required the accent. He recalls asking what they were talking about, since that instruction came only ten minutes prior. That is something many people will never understand unless they are actually in that situation right before going out the curtain. Things like that happen constantly behind the scenes. It isn't just him; he notes that such last-minute changes occur frequently for others too.
