Marc Bernal Barcelona contract renewal

Barcelona has locked in the future for 19-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal with a contract extension running through 2031. The club is setting his release clause at €500 million, a figure that matches exactly what Atlético Madrid assigned to Julián Álvarez. It is wild considering the context: Bernal has appeared in all seven league matches but started only three of them. Aston Villa reportedly offered €80M for him already. Deco stated at an assembly that the renewal needs to be finalized within the current week. Rodri and Frenkie de Jong are part of the squad alongside Bernal, so he isn't an undisputed starter yet. Despite that competition, Hansi Flick includes Bernal in his plans for every match. Barcelona intends to protect Bernal as a key future asset and shield him from any risks.
