    Largest Duck Population Countries 2024

When you look at the global map of live duck stocks for 2024, the sheer scale of Asia's dominance becomes impossible to ignore. These birds are far more than just a side dish; they are a critical backbone for meat, eggs, breeding programs, and rural income generation in farming communities everywhere. While duck farming forms a major component of diversified poultry systems globally, it is heavily concentrated in Asia where wetland environments make them thrive. The data from FAOSTAT 2024 reveals a staggering hierarchy that starts with China holding a massive 830.22 million ducks, a number so large it essentially dwarfs the rest of the world combined. Vietnam sits in second place with 88.19 million ducks, followed by Bangladesh with 68.26 million, Indonesia with 43.55 million, and India rounding out the top five with 33.63 million. Once you move past these Asian giants, the numbers drop but remain significant elsewhere. France ranks sixth with 22.83 million ducks, while Russia is close behind at seventh with 22.20 million. Thailand takes eighth with 16.25 million, and the Philippines holds ninth with 14.03 million. Myanmar comes in tenth with 11.50 million ducks, Malaysia is eleventh with 9.55 million, Cambodia is twelfth with 8.81 million, Ukraine is thirteenth with 8.68 million, and Egypt is fourteenth with 8.44 million. The United States follows as fifteenth with 8.01 million ducks, North Korea is sixteenth with 7.63 million, Poland is seventeenth with 7.40 million, and South Korea completes the top eighteen with 7.16 million. Taiwan is nineteenth with 7.11 million ducks, and Madagascar rounds out the list at twentieth with 4.65 million. It is crucial to note that these figures represent duck stocks, the actual count of live animals, rather than annual production metrics for meat or eggs. The calculated total across 76 countries sums to approximately 1.27 billion ducks, though comparisons should be treated as statistical estimates since the dataset includes official reports, estimates, imputed values, or provisional counts rather than a perfect census. All calculations and presentation were handled by Terra Cultiva using the underlying FAOSTAT 2024 data.
