G7 emergency oil release

100 Million barrels of crude and diesel is the number G7 members have settled on, aimed at easing a worldwide fuel shortage. What's still open: how that total splits between the two, and whose reserves actually get tapped. That's the part the IEA is expected to lock in when it meets on October 14, 15. Italy is expected at the table. The backdrop is weeks of disruption to global energy routes, with governments now getting ready to push emergency barrels onto the market.
