    7 Turkish LGBTQ+ movies list

Burning Days is the one I keep circling back to, a 2022 thriller set in a conservative town where corruption and repression sit right alongside male intimacy. From there the list opens up. Not Knowing, 2019, follows a teenager whose sexuality turns into tension at home because of prejudice and what the family expects. Teslimiyet from 2010 trails four transgender women in Istanbul as love and prejudice hit them at once. Then there's Lola and Billy the Kid, a 1999 Turkish-German drama, family rejection and homophobia and somebody just trying to find where they belong. The Night, Angel and Our Children goes back to 1993, a drama about queer survival and exploitation in Istanbul's nightlife. Steam: The Turkish Bath, 1997, has a trip to Istanbul setting off unexpected desire that shakes up a man's whole life. And Zenne Dancer, 2011, follows a gay man facing family rejection and prejudice while he's trying to live authentically. Seven Turkish films, all of them LGBTQ+ stories about forbidden love, toxic relationships, and the fight for freedom. That's a whole lineup, not just one mood
