Valderrama praises Maradona over Messi

Carlos 'El Pibe' Valderrama isn't just stating a preference; he's drawing a hard line between two legends based on what actually mattered to him. For Valderrama, Maradona is the idol because he single-handedly made Napoli great, whereas Messi arrives surrounded by a pack of tigers who carry the load. The technical argument lands differently too: Maradona had goals from free kicks while Messi didn't, and that specific detail is where 'El Pelusa' wins the comparison for good. It's not just about stats or trophies; it's about the gift itself. Valderrama owns a Diego jersey for every day of the week because Maradona must be remembered daily. He describes this as Diego gifting us football for a lifetime, a sentiment that goes beyond simple nostalgia into something more permanent. #CarlosValderrama
