White House ONE PIECE AI image reactions

The White House posting a viral AI-made ONE PIECE image that recreates an iconic key visual with Donald Trump and other figures in it got a split reception. Rewind four months and Japan's Economic Security Minister Kimi Onoda was already talking about a separate AI image of Trump as Naruto, raising concerns over what this kind of thing could mean for Japanese intellectual property. Her point then: "We should exercise extreme caution to avoid situations where the reputation of a work is damaged by its use in a manner contrary to the rights holders' intent." Japan's plan, per Onoda, is to keep doing what's needed on its end, talks with the United States included, so Japanese copyrights get handled the right way.
