Gonzalo Belloso AFA leadership

The political landscape of Argentine football is shifting again after Gonzalo Belloso confirmed his departure from the presidency of Rosario Central. That exit opens a clear path for him to step into the spotlight as the leading contender to replace Claudio Tapia at the helm of AFA. It makes sense given his history; he was a former player for Rosario Central who built a serious managerial career before moving up to become general secretary of CONMEBOL. His bond with Tapia runs deep, defined by years of maximum trust and loyalty while they worked side by side at CONMEBOL and within the Executive Committee. Because of that shared history, Belloso is widely seen as the favorite to take over if Tapia manages to succeed Gianni Infantino as FIFA president. The whole scenario hinges on whether Chiqui can actually reach that top spot at the global governing body first.
