On this day in 1999, Michael Jackson was performing "Earth Song" in Munich, Germany as part of the MJ & Friends benefit concert. He was standing on a steel footbridge when it collapsed and fell below stage level. Though visibly shaken, he climbed back onto the stage and continued his performance.
