Michael Oher discusses conservatorship
Micheal Oher states the family in The Blind Side never adopted him. He discovered at age 37 that the papers he signed at 18 were not adoption papers. He found out in February 2023 that the arrangement was a conservatorship, not an adoption. The conservatorship gave the Tuohys authority over his business affairs while leaving him legally unrelated to them. The film made $309,000,000 on a $29,000,000 budget. Sandra Bullock won Academy Awards for playing Oher's mother. Oher's filing alleged the family profited from a story he was never paid for. The Tuohys have denied wrongdoing and stated the conservatorship was set up because of NCAA rules.
