Eric isn't surprised by how fast Robinhood is grabbing market attention because he sees this as just the opening move of a fresh cycle. The explosive growth feels inevitable since users have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for an opportunity like this. It all comes down to a few failed cycles in the sector that held everything back. Back in the early Ethereum days, including when Vitalik released his white paper, the whole vision was always about stocks running on-chain inside smart contracts. Executing what Robinhood is doing now simply wasn't possible before because regulatory pressure made it impossible. Eric mentions having friends who got served subpoenas from the SEC during those earlier periods, which completely stifled any innovation in the field. The regulatory environment and those repeated failures delayed the realization of these concepts for years. Now that people are finally ready to move into this space after the delays, everyone is just hopping over to take advantage.
