Stephen Jackson told Dirk Nowitzki straight up that while his game made him part of the culture, marrying a Black woman had the culture falling in love with him ten times more. That comment hit hard enough to make Dirk emotional on air as he opened up about their life together. They've been married over 10 years after meeting at a charity event and now have three kids aged 10, 8, and 6. The oldest is a girl and the other two are boys who are just starting tennis and soccer. Originally from Germany, Nowitzki explained how his wife's half Swedish and half Kenyan heritage helps raise the children as global citizens who speak different languages. Since retiring, he says he has no boss and can travel the world with his family.

You are you already been a big part of the culture because of your game like we all but when you married a sister You know, you know how much we fell in love with you, bro? This dude is crazy. Yeah, but real talk though, you know, everybody's a fan of Dirk, but the culture fell in love with you ten times more when you married a sister. talk about family yeah and what that means to you obviously you have three kids uh talk to us about that yeah it's been a crazy crazy journey you know off the floor uh made some mistakes as well uh we all have well well documented documented yeah uh but uh yeah i ended up being being super lucky and i met jess at like a charity event and a bunch of a while ago and then uh got married like right away we're both you know ready for for family and shoot we're married last year was over to 10 years already so um three kids now they're 10 8 and 6 and you know the oldest is a girl two boys uh they just stare starting their their journey in sports with with tennis and soccer and so it's been it's been fun it's it makes me super proud to just watch them and uh so fatherhood and being married It's been a dream of mine. It's been, I'm enjoying it. I'm a millionaire. Now, they're in a great age, and now I'm obviously done. I'm retired. I have time. I don't have a boss. I can go to everything I want. And so it's been, we can travel the world, which we've done. You know, we have, I'm from Germany. My sister, my wife is half Swedish, half Kenyan. So we go to Africa, we go to Sweden. So I want them to, I want our kids to be global citizens and, you know, speak different languages and travel the world, whatever later on they get thrown into, they can handle. And so it's been a fun journey off the court with them the last couple of years since retirement.
