Sam Altman AI future interview
di Vojtech: Sam Altman
Critics claim AI will strip away human agency, leaving us like house cats where the machine decides our rewards. Sam Altman rejects that narrative entirely. He argues we're looking at a new Renaissance rather than an industrial shift focused on machines. Instead of automation removing people, he sees a massive wave of scientific discovery, art creation, and company formation opening up. The promise isn't just economic growth but individuals regaining control over their time and choices. It's the opposite of what critics fear: more freedom to build and create. What is your take on this optimistic outlook? There is also an interview available detailing how Sam Altman actually manages his daily routine with OpenAI.

One take on this would be that the Renaissance was fundamentally centered around people, and the Industrial Revolution was fundamentally centered around machines. There were a lot of good things about the Industrial Revolution. It had a hugely positive impact on the world in many ways. But I think a lot of people did not have a purely positive personal impact from that. I get sad to hear people talk about like, oh, AI is going to automate everything. There's going to be no rule for humans. we're going to be like house cats and the AI will decide how to reward us and tell us what to do. I have heard people say that. That's certainly not what we think. What I am hopeful for is that this is just a huge new wave of scientific discovery, art, company formation, like everybody that wants to start a new thing, and that people do get the benefits of all the economic growth and the new stuff happening here, but also people get back in control of their lives and ability to kind of do the things they want and spend their time the way they want.
