This man, dressed in blue pushing a hand truck, is looking for scrap metal, according to police. He's seen in surveillance video finding a large black burlap sack with handles, lifting it onto the hand truck and wheeling it away. He would push it another block before discovering there was a dead body inside. Every morning he cleans. You see that garbage bag is over there? That's how it is. The Grizzly discovery around 9.30 Friday morning at the corner of East 93rd Street and Avenue L in Canarsie, where police say he flagged down a sanitation truck and called 911. It's just shocking. I mean, it's not every day you see a body on the ground, bloated up and, you know, covered with a white sheet. And this surveillance video from around 1 a.m. shows how the body got there. Two men are seen pulling up in a white sedan, stopped midway between East 93rd and East 94th, unload the bag from the trunk of the car, dragging it onto the sidewalk and driving away. Part of the person's body was sticking out. It was like, horrible. The body in the bag, there for hours. At one point overnight, an NYPD officer is seen parked right across the street with flashing lights, responding to another call. It would not be until another eight hours. This man carting it for two blocks, initially none the wiser. I really pray for the family and I hope that, you know, they can be able to identify him and find out who he is. The medical examiner still needs to determine the cause of death. As for the victim, his identity has not yet been released.
