Marco Rubio on Iran military decision

    di Flint: Marco Rubio

No preview of the Iran play is coming from Marco Rubio. At the Department of State podium he said he won't discuss what the US may or may not do militarily, and he won't stand there and broadcast that any decision in that regard has been made. What he did relay was President Trump's observation that the United States remains the most highly capable military power on EARTH. Rubio says objectives can be achieved if we seek to, but no decision has been made and no announcement is coming with him. Keeping the enemy guessing is the whole point, and asking for a preview is a waste of breath. Every option stays open, and Iran is panicked, left to wait it out through Election Day. Rubio added that the President would rather solve this diplomatically, and if immediate action were his preference it would've happened weeks or months ago. Confidence is there that the US succeeds militarily if needed, though peaceful is the preferred route

Without accounting the retaliation from Iran. Yeah. First of all, I'm not going to comment about what the U.S. may or may not do militarily, nor am I going to be up here and broadcast that any decision in that regard has been made. I think the President's observation is the United States remains the most highly capable military power on Earth. We can achieve military objectives if we seek to. He hasn't made a decision. I have no announcement in that regard with you today, and nor do we take any of it lightly. The President prefers not to do it that way. If he did, he would have done it weeks ago and months ago. He'd prefer to solve it diplomatically, but I think what the President expresses to you is incredible confidence that if we needed to do something militarily, we would have the ability to do it. And we really – we have everything we need to be successful, but we would prefer to do it peacefully. The next – right behind, right there, the gentleman. Yeah. See, I'm just going row by row.
