Boavista FC

Boavista Futebol Clube da Praia stands as one of the oldest and most decorated football institutions in Cape Verde. Founded on July 5, 1939, the club has spent nearly a century building a legacy within the capital city of Praia on Santiago Island. While the team currently competes in the Santiago Island South Zone League, it has historically contested the top-tier Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde.

The squad operates under the moniker As Panteras, a name shared with the Portuguese club Boavista F.C. despite their distinct geographical locations and administrative histories. This Cape Verdean entity has secured six national titles and twelve regional championships, with its last major national triumph occurring in 2001. [modifica]

The club's competitive history spans decades of dominance in local competitions and sporadic appearances in the national premier division. Their trophy cabinet includes six Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde victories and twelve Santiago Island South Zone League titles. The organization maintains a fierce rivalry with other Praia-based teams such as CD Travadores and Académica da Praia, matches that draw significant attention from the local community.

President Luis Manuel Semedo leads the administration while Nelito Antunes manages the playing squad. The team serves as a key developer of talent for the Cape Verde national side, with many players progressing from the club to represent the country internationally. The Estádio da Várzea remains the central hub for this sporting identity. [modifica]
