Jalil Hackett

They call him "Major," and the hype has followed Jalil Hackett since he was a kid out of Washington, D.C. Born May 11, 2003 (Famous Birthdays), he closed a glittering 140-19 amateur career, graduated high school a year early with a 3.7 GPA, and turned professional in June 2021 on the Mayweather–Paul undercard with a first-round TKO of Angelo Diaz (BoxingTalk, Famous Birthdays).

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Gervonta "Tank" Davis mentored the early run — Davis personally urged Mayweather Promotions to sign him (SportsWeek). In December 2023 he stopped Adrian Gutierrez in three rounds to win a WBC youth welterweight title, then bet on himself: free agency, and on May 24, 2024, a multi-fight deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing at 8-0 (7 KOs) (Top1CK, BoxingNews24).[modifica]

Born May 11, 2003, in Washington, D.C. (Famous Birthdays). Introduced to boxing by his father Bernard at age five, he compiled a 140-19 amateur record and graduated high school a year early with a 3.7 GPA (BoxingTalk). He grew up around the Russell boxing family of Capitol Heights but is not related to them.[modifica]

2025-2026: suffers his first professional loss in December, then moves to 154 lbs for The Ring's "The Underdog" series against Elijah Vines at 9-1 (The Ring). Claims of a Canelo–Crawford undercard slot and a 12-1 record could not be verified and are dropped.[modifica]

The blue-chip kid with grades to match the hands: 140-19 as an amateur, 3.7 GPA in the classroom, and Mayweather's co-sign in the pros. The first loss and the move to 154 reframe him as a prospect in the middle of his education, not the end of it.[modifica]
