Sasaki and Peeps

A middle-aged salaryman named Sasaki adopts a Java sparrow from a local pet shop, unaware that the bird is actually a powerful sage reincarnated in avian form. This magical connection allows Sasaki to traverse between modern Japan and a fantasy world where he engages in interdimensional trade and political maneuvering. The narrative balances his mundane corporate existence with high-stakes adventures involving secret agencies and ancient magic.

Written by Buncololi with illustrations by Kantoku, the series began as a web novel in December 2018 before transitioning to print under the MF Bunko J imprint on January 25, 2021. Yen Press has licensed the English version of the light novels, while a manga adaptation illustrated by Pureji Osho expands the visual storytelling. As of early 2024, eight volumes have been released in Japan.

The franchise expanded into animation when Silver Link produced an anime adaptation that aired from January to March 2024. Following its success, a second season was confirmed for an October 7, 2026 premiere. This upcoming season will feature an hour-long premiere episode, new cast members, and returning staff, continuing the story of the duo's cross-dimensional exploits. [modifica]
