Iconic by Mistake

On June 12, 2026, the HYBE roster released a joint single that united Le Sserafim, Illit, and Katseye in a historic three-way collaboration. The track arrived under a joint venture between Belift Lab, Source Music, HYBE UMG, and Geffen Records, marking the first time these specific labels crossed over for a full group project. Iconic by Mistake functions as an alternative pop anthem where nine writers including Justin Tranter and Alice Longyu Gao crafted lyrics about turning criticism into fuel. Production duties fell to Sean Cook, McKay Stevens, and Dyvahh, resulting in a 2-minute and 57-second track defined by irregular sonic elements.

The song's structure defies standard pop conventions, a choice attributed to writer Alice Longyu Gao whose experimental background shaped the off-kilter arrangement. Critics noted how the chaotic production mirrored the visual narrative of the accompanying music video directed by Cody Critcheloe. While the groups had collaborated on various projects before, this release stood apart by bridging the gap between established acts like Le Sserafim and newer debuts like Katseye and Illit without diluting their individual identities.

Streaming numbers reflected immediate interest as the audio landed on major editorial playlists including K-Pop ON and Today's Top Hits shortly after its drop. The official music video premiered two days early on June 10 via the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel. It featured surreal vignettes such as the members driving a truck through a desert highway, robbing a grave, and setting a cornfield ablaze following an electrical explosion. Within three weeks of its premiere, the video accumulated over 52 million views while the track debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. [modifica]
