Starr Girl

August 14, 2026 marked the arrival of Starr Girl, Ayra Starr's third studio album. The Nigerian singer dropped the project through Mavin Records and Republic Records at age 23. This record follows her 2024 effort, The Year I Turned 21, and represents a shift toward dancehall-influenced pop while maintaining her signature Afropop roots. Starr calls this collection her most personal work to date.

Critical reception arrived immediately upon release. Billboard named the album the winner of its Best New Music poll for that week. Reviewers highlighted how Starr balanced vulnerability with defiance across the tracklist. Revolt TV noted she was building an Afropop world entirely her own, integrating international features like ZAYN without diluting her Nigerian sound.

The album contains 16 songs on streaming platforms, expanding from an initial concept of ten tracks. Lead single Tornado arrived in June 2026 to set the tone. Collaborators include Wizkid, Doechii, Leon Thomas, kwn, and Theodora. Production duties fell to London and Pheelz alongside other frequent partners. [modifica]
