Tropicoqueta

A humid June night in 2024 marked the arrival of Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido, a track that climbed to number one on Hot Latin Songs and held the spot for 14 weeks. By the time Karol G released her fifth studio album exactly one year later, that single had already surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. Tropicoqueta arrived as a 20-track journey recorded between 2023 and December 2024 across studios in Medellín, Miami, and São Paulo.

The project functions as a love letter to Latin America with a guest list that spans the continent. Manu Chao brings his nomadic energy to Viajando Por El Mundo while Marco Antonio Solís appears on Coleccionando Heridas. Feid, Greeicy, Mariah Angeliq, and Eddy Lover each add their own distinct flavor to the mix. Édgar Barrera produced 11 of the 20 tracks alongside Ovy on the Drums, Sky Rompiendo, Tainy, and Pharrell Williams.

Bichota Records and Interscope dropped the album on June 20, 2025, in digital, CD, and vinyl formats. It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 with 57,000 equivalent album units, becoming the fourth all-Spanish album by a woman to crack the top three of that chart. The record earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards while the lead single secured two Latin Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Tropical Song. [modifica]
